At the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, Land Rover boss Gerry McGovern revealed big plans to introduce hardcore, off-road SVX variants of certain Land Rover models.
However, some other Range Rover models might get it as well – despite their priority traditionally being luxury and comfort, and off-road capabilities have always come second.
“You think of stripping down to basics [for off-road vehicles] but I don’t think people want that any more,” McGovern told Autocar in a recent interview.
Hence, an SVX-badged Range Rover won’t be stripped of all its luxury, but instead we’ll see a greater focus on off-roading. However, McGovern warns it won’t come cheap. It is a premium product with a lot of durability, which will get people to buy into the brand.
The SVX badge might also influence Jaguar. Rumours suggest the F-Pace might also get the special treatment.
